The Way, Way Back Review

"On a scale of 1-10, what do you think you are?"

This is how The Way, Way Back opens. This line is what sets the tone for the whole film and it works brilliantly. The directorial debut from Jim Rash (Community) and Nat Faxon (Ben & Kate), two-thirds of the writing team for the incredible The Descendents (for which the pair, along with co-writer and director Alexander Payne, won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay), features an amazing story and an incredible cast that will surely stand out among the action blockbusters of the summer.

TV Release Schedules: Weekly Drops vs. Full Season Dumps

Tonight I watched the new episode of HBO's The Newsroom. It's a fantastic show and if you haven't seen it then you need to fix that as soon as possible. Every time I watch that show or my other favorite shows, I feel a sense of longing once the end credits begin to roll. I need to watch the next episode now. Not next week, NOW!

Where Film Is Headed, What That Means and Why You Should Care

After a long hiatus (to long) from this blog and writing in general, I read something from this past weekend's San Diego Comic Con that made me want to write again. I was browsing /Film (which, if you've never browsed, is a fantastic movie news site) when I came across this interesting story from the Con that we all so desperately try to go to every year.

Our Government Has A Wonderful Sense of Humor

Over the break, I came across a petition to have the White House secure funding to build a Death Star, citing job creation and re-invigorate our space program.

Today, Paul Shawncross, Chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget, responded to the petition, which received enough signatures to require a look see by the government. The response makes me happy that our government has a sense of humor and has definitely seen Star Wars, or at least read Wikipedia to not lose credibility from the nerds.
